vetman assessment
vetman’s 10-point assessment brings together a product’s regulatory credibility, clinical efficacy, safety and practicality. Cost-effectiveness is assessed only when reliable data are available. It is informational and does not replace a veterinarian’s clinical judgment for an individual patient.

Arbimectin

0.75/10 mg tablets, N6 for cats and small dogs
Assessed clinical scopeDog · Full labelled canine oral scope: prevention of viral disease and adjunct treatment of distemper, adenoviral infection, parvoviral and coronavirus enteritis, bordetellosis and parainfluenza · oral
Care settingVeterinary-selected adjunctive home treatment after diagnosis and standard-of-care planning, with close response and neurologic monitoring
vetman score 3.5/10 Poor / unconvincing
Evidence confidence: Low Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 000712 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

The exact registered tablet is identifiable, but its broad antiviral and infection claims are not supported by reliable clinical benefit: the exact trial found no statistically significant advantage. Do not substitute it for vaccination, diagnosis or standard supportive/etiologic care; if used as an adjunct, apply strict ivermectin and ABCB1 risk screening and monitoring.

Regulatory and scientific credibility4.0/10

The exact presentation is currently registered in Georgia and current instructions verify identity, composition and labelled use. However, no EMA/FDA-style public assessment or transparent full dossier was found; umifenovir is reserved for human use and prohibited in animals under EU Regulation 2022/1255; and the only exact-tablet clinical trial is sponsor-linked, reports no statistically significant benefit and still concludes efficacy. The evidence gate therefore applies.

Clinical efficacy2.5/10

The exact 2024 tablet study included 120 dogs across four size strata and four infections; improvement was generally only 0-2 days earlier and no statistically significant group difference was found. The paper nevertheless called the product effective, while current review evidence considers veterinary antiviral activity of ivermectin exploratory and clinically unproven. The broad prevention and treatment scope is therefore not credibly demonstrated.

Safety and tolerability3.5/10

The exact short field study reported no adverse reactions, but it did not establish a safety margin for repeated twice-daily courses or uncommon events. Ivermectin neurotoxicity is exposure- and ABCB1-dependent, especially in susceptible herding breeds; the label excludes puppies under 10 weeks, animals under 1 kg, pregnancy and lactation, and no specific antidote exists.

Clinical practicality4.5/10

Oral administration with food and quarter-tablet increments are feasible at home, but treatment is twice daily for 5-7 days and then daily for 5 days, or twice daily for 10-14 days for selected feline claims. Exact weight-band selection and repeated tablet splitting are required, and one N6 pack is commonly insufficient for a full course.

Full-course cost-effectiveness-

Price was not assessed and is excluded from the overall score.

Important safety and use flags

  • Do not use with hypersensitivity to either component, in animals under 10 weeks or under 1 kg, or during pregnancy or lactation.
  • Do not combine with another macrocyclic lactone. Review all antiparasitics and interacting P-glycoprotein substrates or inhibitors before treatment.
  • Use cautiously in hypertension or epilepsy. Monitor appetite, gastrointestinal signs, behaviour and neurologic status throughout the repeated course.
  • Depression, hypersalivation, anorexia, diarrhoea, tremor or other neurologic signs may indicate excess exposure. Stop treatment and provide prompt supportive care; no specific antidote is available.
  • The exact tablet trial found no statistically significant clinical advantage, and independent exact-product replication was not found. Do not interpret the broad label as proof of antiviral efficacy.
  • This is labelled only as adjunctive treatment. It must not delay pathogen-directed therapy, fluid and nutritional support, isolation, analgesia or other standard care appropriate to the diagnosis.
  • The prevention claim is not a substitute for evidence-based vaccination, infection control or exposure management.
  • Use the exact strength and weight-band table and quarter tablets accurately. Full treatment commonly requires multiple packs; verify that the complete course can be supplied before starting.
  • Umifenovir is reserved for human use and may not be used in animals in the European Union under Regulation (EU) 2022/1255. Georgian registration does not remove this major international regulatory and antimicrobial-stewardship conflict.
  • Collies, Shelties, Old English Sheepdogs and related herding breeds may have ABCB1-associated ivermectin sensitivity. Use only after veterinary risk assessment, preferably with known ABCB1 status.

Evidence confidence: Low Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 000712 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

The exact registered tablet is identifiable, but its broad antiviral and infection claims are not supported by reliable clinical benefit: the exact trial was non-significant and the positive calicivirus paper used another formulation. Do not substitute it for vaccination, diagnosis or standard supportive/etiologic care; if used as an adjunct, apply strict ivermectin risk screening and monitoring.

Regulatory and scientific credibility4.0/10

The exact presentation is currently registered in Georgia and current instructions verify identity, composition and labelled use. The evidence gate therefore applies.

Clinical efficacy2.5/10

The exact 2024 tablet study included 80 cats but reported no statistically significant acceleration of improvement across five infections. A second positive calicivirus report used an intramuscular 7% solution rather than these tablets and had non-randomised, poorly described groups. Current review evidence considers veterinary antiviral activity of ivermectin exploratory and clinically unproven; the broad prevention and FeLV/FIV claims remain unsupported.

Safety and tolerability3.0/10

The exact short field study reported no adverse reactions, but it did not establish a safety margin for repeated twice-daily courses or uncommon events. Ivermectin neurotoxicity is exposure- and ABCB1-dependent, loss-of-function variants also occur in cats, the label excludes kittens under 10 weeks, animals under 1 kg, pregnancy and lactation, and no specific antidote exists.

Clinical practicality4.5/10

Oral administration with food and quarter-tablet increments are feasible at home, but treatment is twice daily for 5-7 days and then daily for 5 days, or twice daily for 10-14 days for selected feline claims. • ABCB1 loss-of-function variants and ivermectin neurotoxicity also occur in cats. Individual susceptibility is not reliably excluded by breed or prior uneventful exposure.

Assessed clinical scopeDog · Full labelled canine oral scope: prevention of viral disease and adjunct treatment of distemper, adenoviral infection, parvoviral and coronavirus enteritis, bordetellosis and parainfluenza · oral
Care settingVeterinary-selected adjunctive home treatment after diagnosis and standard-of-care planning, with close response and neurologic monitoring
vetman score 3.5/10 Poor / unconvincing
Evidence confidence: Low Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 000711 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

N10 for XL dogs
vetman assessment
vetman’s 10-point assessment brings together a product’s regulatory credibility, clinical efficacy, safety and practicality. Cost-effectiveness is assessed only when reliable data are available. It is informational and does not replace a veterinarian’s clinical judgment for an individual patient.

9/120 mg tablets, N10 for XL dogs
Assessed clinical scopeDog · Full labelled canine oral scope: prevention of viral disease and adjunct treatment of distemper, adenoviral infection, parvoviral and coronavirus enteritis, bordetellosis and parainfluenza · oral
Care settingVeterinary-selected adjunctive home treatment after diagnosis and standard-of-care planning, with close response and neurologic monitoring
vetman score 3.5/10 Poor / unconvincing
Evidence confidence: Low Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 000660 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026
