0.5% injection, Solution · Dog Dog 0.2 mg/kg
For the 0.5% presentation, use only in medium and large dogs at 0.4 ml/10 kg (0.2 mg aversectin C1/kg), subcutaneously or intramuscularly using aseptic technique. Nematodes and entomoses: once. Sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis or otodectosis: twice 7-10 days apart. Demodicosis: every 7-10 days until recovery confirmed by two negative skin scrapings. Do not use this 0.5% presentation in cats or dogs below 10 kg; the instruction requires the separate 0.2% product for them. Contraindicated with component hypersensitivity. Do not use in Collies, Bobtails or Shelties because of pronounced breed sensitivity to avermectins. Pregnant or lactating females, puppies under 7 weeks, weakened or old animals require veterinary supervision.

Aversect K&C

0.5% injection, 5 ml for medium and large dogs
Assessed clinical scopeDog · Full dog label for the 0.5% presentation in medium and large dogs (10 kg and over): nematodes and insect infestations once, sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis and otodectosis twice 7-10 days apart, and demodicosis every 7-10 days until two negative scrapings · SC,IM
Care settingClinic-administered injection after a breed and MDR1 check and a negative heartworm test
vetman score 4.5/10 Weak evidence support
Evidence confidence: Low Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 000498 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

A weak option: avermectin injections work for mange, but they carry serious MDR1 and heartworm risks, and authorised oral isoxazolines now cover most of the same indications more safely.

Regulatory and scientific credibility4.0/10

The exact presentation is registered in Georgia (000498, valid to 2029) with a current Russian official instruction, but aversectin C is not authorised in the EU, UK or US and has no independent product study.

Clinical efficacy5.5/10

Avermectins at 0.2 mg/kg have good class evidence against Sarcoptes, Otodectes and many nematodes, but for demodicosis the WAVD consensus prefers isoxazolines and uses ivermectin daily by mouth, not weekly injections.

Safety and tolerability3.5/10

At 0.2 mg/kg an avermectin injection can cause fatal neurotoxicity in MDR1-mutant dogs and severe reactions in heartworm-positive dogs, and the dose cannot be withdrawn once injected; the label bans Collies, Bobtails and Shelties.

Clinical practicality5.5/10

One or two clinic injections suit sarcoptic mange, but demodicosis needs repeated visits every 7-10 days, and breed screening and heartworm testing add work.

Full-course cost-effectiveness-

No verified current Georgian price or patient-adjusted course cost was found; foreign prices were not substituted.

Important safety and use flags

  • Never use in Collies, Shelties, Bobtails, Australian Shepherds, related herding breeds or their crosses unless MDR1 genotyping shows a normal gene.
  • Test for heartworm before use: in microfilaraemic dogs this dose can cause shock-like reactions.
  • This 0.5% presentation is only for dogs of 10 kg or more; never use it in cats or small dogs, even though the Georgian register lists cats.
  • Watch for ataxia, dilated pupils, tremor, salivation or depression after injection; there is no specific antidote, so supportive care must be available.
  • Pregnant or lactating bitches, puppies under 7 weeks and weak or old dogs only under veterinary supervision.
  • For demodicosis, continue until two negative skin scrapings and consider an authorised isoxazoline first.
