vetman assessment
vetman’s 10-point assessment brings together a product’s regulatory credibility, clinical efficacy, safety and practicality. Cost-effectiveness is assessed only when reliable data are available. It is informational and does not replace a veterinarian’s clinical judgment for an individual patient.

Globfel-4

immunoglobulin solution, 1 ml N10 for cats
Assessed clinical scopeCat · Full cat label: passive prevention and adjunctive treatment of panleukopenia, rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and chlamydial infection with equine globulins · Subcutaneous
Care settingVeterinary-directed passive immunisation or adjunct treatment alongside standard supportive care
vetman score 5.0/10 Weak evidence support
Evidence confidence: Low Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 001175 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

A weak option: equine antiserum with no controlled evidence for cats. It must never replace vaccination or standard supportive treatment of viral disease.

Regulatory and scientific credibility4.5/10

The exact product is registered in Georgia (001175, valid to 2031) with a manufacturer description of antibody titres, but no EU, UK or US authorisation was documented in the reviewed evidence, public dossier or independent product study exists.

Clinical efficacy4.0/10

Heterologous equine antibodies give short passive protection at best; no controlled feline outcome study supports this product, and guidelines rely on vaccination and supportive care rather than antisera.

Safety and tolerability6.0/10

Equine protein can cause hypersensitivity and serum-sickness reactions, especially on repeat courses, and independent safety data are not available.

Clinical practicality6.0/10

One preventive SC dose, or 2-4 treatment doses 12-24 hours apart, is feasible in clinic; cats over 10 kg need 2 ml, so each administration consumes two 1 ml vials.

Full-course cost-effectiveness-

No verified current Georgian price or patient-adjusted course cost was found; foreign prices were not substituted.

Important safety and use flags

  • Do not use instead of vaccination or instead of fluid, antiemetic, nutritional and antimicrobial supportive care for panleukopenia or respiratory disease.
  • Equine protein can cause anaphylaxis or serum sickness, especially on repeated use; observe after injection and keep emergency treatment ready.
  • Passive antibodies can blunt the response to a vaccine given soon afterwards; plan the vaccination interval accordingly.
  • Passive protection lasts no more than 2 weeks and no controlled feline study supports this product.
  • Give 1 ml up to 10 kg and 2 ml above 10 kg; the larger dose uses two 1 ml vials per administration. Maintain aseptic cold-chain handling.
