Warning
Benzydamine is a human mouth and throat medicine; no dog or cat dose is established. Not for swallowing: in people, swallowing more than about 300 mg can cause vomiting, agitation and hallucinations, and one 4-year-old had convulsions. Treatment is symptomatic; there is no specific antidote.Sources: TITCK KLOROBEN spray SPC

Warning
(Dog) Dog: toxicology data only, not a treatment dose. By mouth, 30 mg/kg for 1 or 6 months caused no organ or blood changes; 45 mg/kg a day caused vomiting.

Warning
(Cat) Cat: no oral or systemic safety data found. The only report is 5 % cream on shaved skin for 2 weeks without intolerance. Benzydamine is a weak base and a weak prostaglandin inhibitor, unlike the acidic NSAIDs, but no study shows whether the usual feline NSAID caution applies, so do not assume swallowing it is safe.Sources: PubMed
