Reconstitute with the 0.5 ml solvent presentation and inject one dose subcutaneously. Give the first dose from 8 weeks and the second 3-4 weeks later; delay until 12 weeks when high maternal antibody is expected. Revaccinate all components after one year; thereafter vaccinate the Chlamydophila component annually and the rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleucopenia components at intervals up to 3 years. Vaccinate healthy cats only. Do not use throughout pregnancy or lactation. Immunodeficient people or people taking immunosuppressants should not handle this live chlamydial vaccine.

vetman assessment
vetman’s 10-point assessment brings together a product’s regulatory credibility, clinical efficacy, safety and practicality. Cost-effectiveness is assessed only when reliable data are available. It is informational and does not replace a veterinarian’s clinical judgment for an individual patient.

Purevax RCPCh

lyophilisate and solvent for injection, 0.5 ml dose for cats
Assessed clinical scopeCat · Full cat label: active immunisation against FHV, FCV, panleucopenia and Chlamydophila felis with the labelled primary course and component-specific revaccination · Subcutaneous
Care settingRisk-based preventive vaccination in a clinic able to assess multi-cat exposure, maintain cold chain and manage accidental exposure or hypersensitivity
vetman score 8.2/10 Very good
Evidence confidence: High Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 208-11; 39-11 · Verified on 20 Oct 2026

A strong core vaccine with a legitimate but situational Chlamydophila add-on. It is an attractive choice in documented high-risk multi-cat environments, but routine use in every cat adds annual vaccination and live-organism handling without equivalent universal benefit.

Regulatory and scientific credibility9.0/10

The exact 0.5 ml product is registered in Georgia and supported by a current SPC plus a regulator assessment that transparently separates each antigen claim, challenge result, schedule and safety limitation.

Clinical efficacy7.9/10

The RCP core components are well supported and durable. The Chlamydophila component is non-core, appropriate mainly for high-risk multi-cat settings, and reduces clinical signs without reliably preventing infection or shedding; its inclusion should therefore follow a specific risk assessment.

Safety and tolerability8.0/10

Expected reactions are usually transient and the product is non-adjuvanted, but it contains live chlamydial organisms; pregnancy and lactation use is contraindicated, and immunodeficient or immunosuppressed people should not handle it.

Clinical practicality7.8/10

The fixed 0.5 ml dose is straightforward, but the annual Chlamydophila component, separate longer core intervals, risk selection, reconstitution, cold chain and handler restrictions make the programme more complex than RCP alone.

Important safety and use flags

  • Vaccinate healthy cats only; do not use in hypersensitivity to a component.
  • Do not use during pregnancy or lactation.
  • Use the Chlamydophila component only for documented higher-risk multi-cat settings; it is not a routine core antigen for every cat.
  • Chlamydophila vaccination reduces clinical signs but does not reliably prevent infection or bacterial shedding.
  • Immunodeficient people or people receiving immunosuppressants should not handle this live chlamydial vaccine; seek medical advice after accidental exposure.
  • Monitor hypersensitivity and transient local or systemic reactions; have immediate treatment available.
  • Revaccinate Chlamydophila annually while risk persists, separate from the longer core-component interval; maintain cold chain and use promptly after reconstitution.
