  • Critical
    Use with caution in a bleeding disorder or during existing anticoagulant treatment. Combining an antiplatelet medicine with an anticoagulant is used intentionally in cats and can improve survival, but it increases bleeding risk; adverse events occurred in 11–15% of patients in a systematic review and were predominantly minor bleeding.

  • Clopi-Denk 75 is a round unscored film-coated tablet. Do not present a visual quarter as a validated 18.75 mg dose or assume crushing preserves dose accuracy; use a pharmacy-prepared dose-accurate form when a whole tablet is not prescribed.
  • Canine recommendation covers prevention of arterial thromboembolism in selected dogs. It does not establish clopidogrel alone for venous thrombosis or routine prophylaxis without a defined risk.
  • Contraindicated with clopidogrel/excipient hypersensitivity, active bleeding or severe liver disease. A bleeding-prone disorder is a high-risk precaution requiring an individual plan, not an automatic exact-label contraindication. Investigate unexplained anaemia, melaena, haematuria, bruising, prolonged bleeding or neurologic deterioration promptly.
  • Before surgery, dentistry or an invasive procedure, make an indication-specific interruption plan; do not stop chronic antithrombotic treatment automatically or continue it without reviewing haemorrhage risk.
  • Review anticoagulants, heparins, aspirin and other antiplatelets, NSAIDs and SSRIs. Combination treatment may be intentional, but additive bleeding risk requires a documented benefit-risk decision and monitoring.

Cat: 18.75 mg/cat PO q24h with food for selected cardiogenic ATE risk/secondary prevention; after acute ATE, ACVIM recommends 75 mg PO once when oral medication is tolerated, then 18.75 mg q24h. Dog: 1.1–3 mg/kg PO q24h for prevention of arterial thromboembolism; a 4–10 mg/kg one-time loading dose may be considered. The exact tablet is round, film-coated and unscored: equal quartering and crushing are not validated. Use a dose-accurate pharmacy-prepared presentation whenever the prescribed dose is not a whole tablet.
