75 mg, Coated tablet · Cat Cat 18.75 mg per animal
For selected cardiogenic ATE risk and secondary prevention. This equals one quarter of the nominal 75 mg strength, but Clopi-Denk is unscored and equal quarter-dose accuracy is not validated; prescribe a dose-accurate pharmacy-prepared presentation rather than a visual quarter.

75 mg, Coated tablet · Dog Dog 1.1–3 mg/kg
Prevention of arterial thromboembolism in a dog with a defined indication. Evidence does not support clopidogrel monotherapy for venous thrombosis. A whole 75 mg tablet supplies this range only at approximately 25–68 kg; use a dose-accurate alternative outside that fit because this exact tablet is not validated for subdivision.

Clopi-Denk

75 mg, film-coated tablet, human medicine
Assessed clinical scopeDog · Oral prevention of arterial thromboembolism in dogs with a defined thrombotic indication; not routine broad prophylaxis or sole therapy for venous thrombosis · By mouth
Care settingVeterinarian-directed hospital or home treatment after defining arterial thrombotic risk, selecting an accurate weight-based dose and reviewing bleeding risk and concurrent antithrombotics.
vetman score 6.3/10 Situational / acceptable
Evidence confidence: Medium Georgia: Yes, human · № რ-038001 · Verified on 15 Oct 2026 Off-label use

A consensus-supported canine arterial antiplatelet option, but clinical-outcome evidence is limited and the unscored 75 mg tablet fits a whole-unit maintenance dose only for a restricted weight range; many prescriptions need a dose-accurate prepared form.

Regulatory and scientific credibility6.5/10

Exact identity, current Georgian human authorisation and an official exact leaflet are traceable, with independent veterinary consensus and species evidence; there is no veterinary authorisation or exact-product target-animal equivalence/outcome dossier.

Clinical efficacy6.5/10

CURATIVE supports clopidogrel for canine ATE prevention and canine PD/PK studies show platelet inhibition, but clinical outcome evidence is sparse and neither VTE monotherapy nor indiscriminate prophylaxis is established.

Safety and tolerability6.5/10

Exact-label bleeding risks and canine platelet effects are characterised, but small studies show variable or excessive response in some dogs and clinical safety is indication-, dose- and polytherapy-dependent.

Clinical practicality5.0/10

Once-daily oral use and an intact tablet are workable for some medium/large dogs, but weight-based dosing often needs a non-whole dose and this exact unscored tablet is not validated for subdivision or crushing.

Full-course cost-effectiveness-

A current Georgian pack listing exists, but dose-accurate preparation cost, patient-specific duration and comparable alternative cost were not verified together; price is excluded.

Important safety and use flags

  • Human medicine: Georgian registration is for people and does not establish veterinary authorisation. Dog and cat use is off-label by species and indication.
  • Clopi-Denk 75 is a round unscored film-coated tablet. Do not present a visual quarter as a validated 18.75 mg dose or assume crushing preserves dose accuracy; use a pharmacy-prepared dose-accurate form when a whole tablet is not prescribed.
  • Canine recommendation covers prevention of arterial thromboembolism in selected dogs. It does not establish clopidogrel alone for venous thrombosis or routine prophylaxis without a defined risk.
  • Contraindicated with clopidogrel/excipient hypersensitivity, active bleeding or severe liver disease. A bleeding-prone disorder is a high-risk precaution requiring an individual plan, not an automatic exact-label contraindication. Investigate unexplained anaemia, melaena, haematuria, bruising, prolonged bleeding or neurologic deterioration promptly.
  • Before surgery, dentistry or an invasive procedure, make an indication-specific interruption plan; do not stop chronic antithrombotic treatment automatically or continue it without reviewing haemorrhage risk.
  • Review anticoagulants, heparins, aspirin and other antiplatelets, NSAIDs and SSRIs. Combination treatment may be intentional, but additive bleeding risk requires a documented benefit-risk decision and monitoring.
  • Review omeprazole/esomeprazole and other CYP-modifying medicines listed by the exact label; choose gastroprotection and co-medication deliberately rather than assuming all proton-pump inhibitors are interchangeable.
  • Canine platelet response varies and can be excessive. Clinical bleeding surveillance remains necessary even when a standard mg/kg dose is used.
  • Clopidogrel response is variable. Recurrence does not automatically prove non-adherence, and an ex-vivo assay result is not a substitute for reassessing indication, dose preparation, interactions and concurrent disease.
  • Exact-product safety in pregnancy, lactation, juveniles and severe renal/hepatic disease is not established. Use only after an individual benefit-risk assessment.

vetman score 6.8/10 Situational / acceptable
Evidence confidence: Medium Georgia: Yes, human · № რ-038001 · Verified on 15 Oct 2026 Off-label use

Strong feline clopidogrel evidence, but this exact 75 mg unscored tablet is a poor maintenance-dose presentation: retain the intact loading role and use a dose-accurate 18.75 mg form for chronic treatment.

Regulatory and scientific credibility6.5/10

Exact identity, current Georgian human authorisation and an official exact leaflet are traceable, with independent veterinary consensus and species evidence; there is no veterinary authorisation or exact-product target-animal equivalence/outcome dossier.

Clinical efficacy8.5/10

FAT CAT provides relevant randomised outcome evidence and ACVIM strongly supports secondary prevention; primary prevention is not directly studied, loading evidence is lower and pharmacodynamic nonresponse occurs in some cats.

Safety and tolerability7.5/10

FAT CAT found chronic treatment well tolerated and feline use is extensive, but bleeding, salivation/retching/vomiting, response variability, surgery and additive antithrombotic effects remain clinically important.

Clinical practicality3.5/10

Once-daily oral treatment is simple and one intact tablet fits the 75 mg loading step, but chronic 18.75 mg requires one quarter of an unscored film-coated tablet with no validated equal-subdivision accuracy; a dose-accurate preparation is needed.

  • Feline evidence is strongest for secondary prevention after cardiogenic ATE. Primary prevention is risk-selected and the 75 mg acute loading recommendation has lower evidence than 18.75 mg maintenance.

  • Review omeprazole/esomeprazole and other CYP-modifying medicines listed by the exact label; choose gastroprotection and co-medication deliberately rather than assuming all proton-pump inhibitors are interchangeable.
  • Some cats salivate, retch or vomit. An empty gelatin capsule followed by water may improve tolerability, but it does not solve inaccurate tablet quartering.

Information not fully verified Veterinary use is off-label. Cat: 18.75 mg/cat PO q24h with food for selected cardiogenic ATE risk/secondary prevention; after acute ATE, ACVIM recommends 75 mg PO once when oral medication is tolerated, then 18.75 mg q24h. Dog: 1.1–3 mg/kg PO q24h for prevention of arterial thromboembolism; a 4–10 mg/kg one-time loading dose may be considered. The exact tablet is round, film-coated and unscored: equal quartering and crushing are not validated. Use a dose-accurate pharmacy-prepared presentation whenever the prescribed dose is not a whole tablet.

Known Contraindications

  • Critical
Use with caution in a bleeding disorder or during existing anticoagulant treatment. Combining an antiplatelet medicine with an anticoagulant is used intentionally in cats and can improve survival, but it increases bleeding risk; adverse events occurred in 11–15% of patients in a systematic review and were predominantly minor bleeding.
