| 150 mg, Tablet · Cat | Cat | 5 mg/kg Adjunctive bronchodilation only for clinically important wheeze/expiratory distress; never use as anti-inflammatory monotherapy or as a substitute for inhaled rescue treatment in status asthmaticus. A typical 5 kg cat needs 25 mg, one sixth of this narrow-index tablet; equal subdivision is not validated, so use a pharmacy-prepared dose or another validated formulation rather than visual splitting. |

| 150 mg, Tablet · Dog | Dog | 10 mg/kg Adjunctive bronchodilation only when clinically important bronchospasm is present; do not substitute for diagnosis, inhaled rescue treatment when appropriate, or anti-inflammatory/cause-directed therapy. One whole 150 mg tablet exactly fits 15 kg; other weights usually require a pharmacy-prepared immediate-release dose because dose-accurate equal subdivision of the exact tablet is unvalidated. |

Information not fully verified
Human immediate-release tablet; all dog/cat use is off-label. Current MSD aminophylline doses: dog 10 mg/kg PO every 8 hours; cat 5 mg/kg PO every 12 hours. The exact label does not validate equal tablet subdivision or crushing. One whole tablet fits a 15 kg dog at 10 mg/kg; a 10 kg dog needs 100 mg (two thirds), a 5 kg dog 50 mg (one third), and a 5 kg cat 25 mg (one sixth). Do not estimate those fractions visually because dose-accurate equal subdivision has not been validated for this narrow-index tablet; use a pharmacy-prepared immediate-release dose or another validated formulation.

-
Warning
Use cautiously in an existing arrhythmia because methylxanthines increase heart rate and are arrhythmogenic.
-
Warning
