Information not fully verified No dog or cat dose is established for routine congestion with this product. One 2026 randomised canine BOAS-surgery trial used the matching 0.1% Otrivin concentration, 0.2 ml per nostril once five minutes before ala-vestibuloplasty, delivered reproducibly with a 1 ml syringe rather than by an assumed number of commercial pump actuations. Keep that clinic-only protocol out of the general dose calculator; do not transfer it to rhinitis, cats, other nasal procedures or home use.

Xylometazoline: No dose supported by a publicly verifiable source yet

Known Contraindications

  • Critical
    Avoid xylometazoline in patients with hypertension or significant cardiovascular disease. Systemic absorption or overdose can cause bradycardia, hypertension, respiratory depression, coma, and convulsions; very small patients may be particularly susceptible.

    Do not use xylometazoline in patients with angle-closure glaucoma.
  • Critical
    Do not use xylometazoline in patients with diabetes mellitus.

  • Contraindicated Atenolol + Xylometazoline
    Do not combine xylometazoline with beta blockers because additive cardiovascular effects may occur.
    Recommendation: Do not administer concurrently.
