Biocan Novel Pi/L4

lyophilisate and suspension, 1 ml dose for dogs
Assessed clinical scopeDog · Full dog label from 6 weeks: CPiV and four-serogroup leptospirosis immunisation, mainly as the annual non-core booster · Subcutaneous
Care settingRisk-based preventive vaccination of a healthy dog, usually the annual booster between three-yearly core doses
vetman score 8.1/10 Very good
Evidence confidence: High Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 128-11 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

A very good annual leptospirosis and parainfluenza booster with current four-serogroup coverage. Use it on exposure risk rather than as a substitute for core vaccination.

Regulatory and scientific credibility9.0/10

The exact presentation is registered in Georgia (128-11) and holds a decentralised EU authorisation (SK 97/004/DC/15-S) with a current detailed SPC.

Clinical efficacy7.5/10

Leptospirosis vaccination with four serogroups including Australis is well supported where exposure exists; parenteral CPiV reduces signs and shedding but gives only partial protection against the wider canine respiratory complex.

Safety and tolerability8.0/10

Benefit-risk is favourable in healthy dogs, with common transient swelling and rare gastrointestinal or hypersensitivity reactions; pregnancy and lactation use is not recommended.

Clinical practicality8.0/10

One 1 ml dose a year pairs simply with three-yearly Biocan Novel core vaccination; a new or lapsed dog needs two primary doses 3-4 weeks apart.

Full-course cost-effectiveness-

No verified current Georgian price or patient-adjusted course cost was found; foreign prices were not substituted.

Important safety and use flags

  • Do not use with hypersensitivity to the adjuvant or an excipient. Vaccinate clinically healthy dogs only.
  • This vaccine contains no CDV, CAV, CPV or rabies antigen. It does not replace core vaccination.
  • Leptospiral protection is serogroup-specific and lasts one year: give it every year while exposure risk persists, and restart with two doses if the interval has lapsed.
  • Parenteral CPiV covers one agent of the canine infectious respiratory complex and does not prevent all kennel cough.
  • Safety in pregnancy and lactation is not established and use is not recommended.
  • Transient injection-site swelling is common; rare gastrointestinal or hypersensitivity reactions need observation and prompt treatment. Vaccinated dogs may shed the live CPiV strain.
  • Store at 2-8 C, do not freeze, protect from light and inject the whole reconstituted 1 ml immediately.
