Biocan Puppy

lyophilisate and suspension, 1 ml dose for dogs
Assessed clinical scopeDog · Full dog label from 5 weeks: early immunisation against distemper (live CDV) and parvovirus (inactivated CPV) · Subcutaneous
Care settingEarly puppy vaccination in a clinic as a bridge to a full core programme, with a documented follow-up plan
vetman score 7.6/10 Good
Evidence confidence: Medium Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 185-11 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

A good early distemper and parvovirus bridge for young puppies in high-risk settings. Its inactivated parvovirus component is weaker against maternal antibody than modern live CPV vaccines, so complete the core series with a full polyvalent vaccine.

Regulatory and scientific credibility8.5/10

The exact presentation is registered in Georgia (185-11) and in Czechia since 2004 (97/011/04-C) with a current public SPC, but public independent evidence on this formulation is limited.

Clinical efficacy6.5/10

CDV and CPV are essential targets, but the parvovirus component is inactivated; WSAVA prefers modified-live CPV because inactivated CPV is less able to overcome maternal antibody, and onset is slow at 14-28 days.

Safety and tolerability8.0/10

Only very rare local or hypersensitivity reactions are labelled; safety in pregnancy and lactation is not established.

Clinical practicality7.0/10

The fixed 1 ml dose is simple, but it covers only two diseases and needs a planned polyvalent follow-up, reconstitution and immediate use.

Full-course cost-effectiveness-

No verified current Georgian price or patient-adjusted course cost was found; foreign prices were not substituted.

Important safety and use flags

  • This is a two-antigen bridge, not a complete core vaccine: it contains no adenovirus and no parainfluenza, leptospirosis or rabies antigen. Continue with a polyvalent core vaccine.
  • The parvovirus component is inactivated and immunity develops 14-28 days after the primary course. Maternal antibody can block it; finish the core series at 16 weeks or later with a live CPV vaccine.
  • Annual revaccination with this product alone is only appropriate when protection against CDV and CPV only is wanted.
  • Give antiparasitic treatment at least 10 days before vaccination and avoid strenuous exercise for a week after it. Observe for rare local or hypersensitivity reactions.
  • Safety in pregnancy and lactation is not established.
  • Store at 2-8 C, do not freeze, protect from light and inject the whole reconstituted 1 ml immediately.
