vetman assessment
vetman’s 10-point assessment brings together a product’s regulatory credibility, clinical efficacy, safety and practicality. Cost-effectiveness is assessed only when reliable data are available. It is informational and does not replace a veterinarian’s clinical judgment for an individual patient.

A numerical canine score cannot be assigned responsibly. AEM DV 22-01101 and Kazakhstan SPC ҚР-ДЗ-5№121984 verify the exact 3 ml human ampoule, four-vitamin composition and deep-IM human route. They provide no dog/cat dose, veterinary PK, target-animal safety margin or clinical outcome evidence. The human schedule and an isolated clinic-chart volume are not transferable, and the ampoule also contains 60 mg benzyl alcohol.

Exact human identity and deep-IM route are verified; a veterinary dose and benefit-risk are not. Do not transfer the human schedule or infer “slow injection.”

Important safety and use flags

  • Use only for a defined deficiency or other explicit clinical rationale. A nonspecific neurologic sign, anorexia, fatigue or routine supplementation is not a diagnosis.
  • No dog or cat dose is established for this exact ampoule. Do not scale the human schedule, copy an isolated clinic-chart volume or derive a mixture dose from one component.
  • The exact official route is deep IM. “Slowly” is not stated in the audited primary documents; do not add it or extrapolate IV, SC or oral use.
  • AEM and the Kazakhstan SPC describe a human medicine; this is not a veterinary authorisation. Exact dog/cat PK, efficacy and repeated-dose safety remain absent.
  • Do not infer that all B vitamins are required because one deficiency is plausible. Ingredient or comparator evidence cannot validate this fixed high-dose ratio or transfer another product’s dose.
  • Each 3 ml ampoule contains 250 mg pyridoxine and 60 mg benzyl alcohol with the other vitamins. Dog/cat local tolerance, repeated-dose safety and therapeutic margin are not established.
  • High experimental pyridoxine exposure caused sensory-neuron injury in dogs. Those studies do not define a safe lower Benevron regimen, but they rule out assuming that water solubility makes chronic high-dose exposure harmless.
  • Parenteral thiamine can cause serious hypersensitivity. Use aseptic technique, review excipients and ensure readiness to manage an acute reaction.
  • Review the full medication plan, especially levodopa without a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor and other vitamin-containing products. Avoid unexamined cumulative exposure.
  • Set a diagnosis-specific response point and stop date. If response is absent, reassess diet, malabsorption, antagonists, primary disease and the actual deficient nutrient rather than continuing empirical B-complex treatment.

Known Contraindications

  • Warning Cyanocobalamin
Tumours: according to the product label, vitamin B12 may stimulate the growth of malignant tumours, so it should not be given to patients with a tumour.
    Sources: Product label
  • Critical Pyridoxine
A whole tablet is a large dose for a small animal: one tablet contains 200 mg pyridoxine, which is 50 mg/kg for a 4 kg cat. The label's overdose section describes pyridoxine neuropathy in people after months or years of chronic intake of 200 to 6000 mg a day (roughly 3 to 100 mg/kg a day). In practice an adult cat is given a quarter of a tablet (see the product note): 12.5 mg/kg pyridoxine for a 4 kg cat, in the lower third of that range. A short course and a long one are different questions. No source gives a veterinary dose for this combination.

  • Critical Pyridoxine
Kidney failure: the human product label makes kidney or liver failure an absolute contraindication. This is a pharmacological restriction and does not depend on the species.
    Sources: Product label
  • Critical Pyridoxine
Hepatic impairment is listed as an absolute contraindication on the human product label, alongside renal impairment.
    Sources: Product label
  • Warning Pyridoxine
Pregnancy and lactation are contraindications on the human product label because of the high vitamin doses rather than the vitamins themselves. This restriction cannot be transferred directly to animals, but it applies to the doses contained in this tablet.

  • Warning Thiamine
Sodium metabisulfite (E223) can rarely cause severe hypersensitivity reactions and bronchospasm. The tablet also contains the azo dyes Ponceau 4R (E124) and Sunset Yellow (E110). Riboflavin can turn urine yellow; this is expected and is not an adverse effect.
