0.76 g, Topical (unspecified) · Dog Dog 1 collar
Fit one 48 cm collar around the neck of a small or medium dog, leaving a two-finger gap; trim the excess leaving 5 cm beyond the buckle and adjust periodically. Maximum effect develops after about one week. Protection lasts 4 months against fleas, 6 months against ticks and adult mosquitoes, and 12 months against sandfly bites. Do not use in puppies under 7 weeks, dogs with significant skin lesions, hypersensitivity, or cats. Do not combine with another organophosphate ectoparasiticide. Remove before swimming or bathing because deltamethrin is harmful to aquatic organisms.

Scalibor Protectorband

0.76 g, deltamethrin 0.76 g, collar 48 cm for small and medium dogs
Assessed clinical scopeDog · Full canine label: 5-6 month control of Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus ticks, 5-6 month control of Phlebotomus perniciosus blood feeding, and 6 month anti-feeding activity against Culex pipiens pipiens mosquitoes · On the skin
Care settingContinuous home collar wear after parasite and vector-risk assessment; select the exact dog-size collar, fit with two-finger clearance, inspect skin and fit regularly, and plan around water exposure
vetman score 8.5/10 Very good
Evidence confidence: High Georgia: Yes, veterinary · № 1-11 · Verified on 21 Oct 2026

A strongly documented long-duration canine option for the labelled tick and vector-feeding role. Its value depends on continuous correct wear and advance application; it does not eliminate every attachment, bite or infection risk and it has no labelled flea claim.

Regulatory and scientific credibility9.0/10

Both exact collar lengths are registered in Georgia and have current regulator-hosted exact-product SPCs, long authorisation histories and multiple directly applicable controlled or field studies.

Clinical efficacy8.5/10

Direct studies support sustained control of the labelled ticks and strong sand-fly anti-feeding activity, while a large independent field study supports reduced canine Leishmania infection when collars remain in place. Efficacy is not immediate or absolute, real-world adherence matters, and comparative tick control varied over time.

Safety and tolerability8.0/10

Deltamethrin is not systemically absorbed and the collar may be used during pregnancy and lactation; label adverse reactions are rare or very rare and usually resolve after removal. Safe use still requires strict dog-only selection, skin monitoring, prevention of ingestion, child-contact precautions and avoidance of organophosphate ectoparasiticides.

Clinical practicality8.5/10

One correctly fitted collar provides 5-6 months of continuous protection without monthly redosing. The one-week onset, regular fit and skin checks, possible collar loss, removal before swimming or bathing, and uncertain shampoo effect create a real but manageable home-care burden.

Important safety and use flags

  • For dogs only. Do not use on cats, puppies under seven weeks, dogs with skin lesions, or animals with hypersensitivity to deltamethrin, pyrethroids or an excipient.
  • Do not use with other ectoparasiticides containing organophosphates.
  • Full activity takes one week, so fit the collar before anticipated exposure. Occasional tick attachment or vector feeding can still occur and pathogen transmission cannot be excluded.
  • Rare local skin or hypersensitivity reactions and very rare behavioural, gastrointestinal or neurologic signs can occur. Remove the collar if signs develop and treat symptomatically; neurologic signs generally resolve within 48 hours after removal.
  • Prevent chewing or ingestion. A swallowed collar may cause incoordination, tremor, salivation, vomiting or hindquarter rigidity; no specific antidote is known.
  • Remove the collar before swimming or bathing and prevent swimming during the first five days. Deltamethrin is dangerous to aquatic organisms, and the effect of shampooing on duration has not been investigated.
  • Wash hands after fitting. Deltamethrin can cause transient skin tingling, itching or redness; people hypersensitive to triphenyl phosphate should avoid contact, and children under two must not touch, play with or mouth the collar.
