A convenient, locally authorised 12-week fluralaner option with an exact five-band manufacturer label, but only indirect sponsor-linked reference-product efficacy and no independent Power Gold equivalence, outcome or safety study.

The manufacturer label claims 12-week control of two flea species and R. sanguineus. Randomised studies support the same active, concentration, strengths and 25 mg/kg regimen in the Bravecto reference formulation, but they are sponsor-linked or formulation-transferred and no Power Gold equivalence or outcome study verifies efficacy transfer.

The exact insert identifies uncommon transient gastrointestinal effects and rare seizure/lethargy reports, with epilepsy caution and age/weight limits. Class pharmacovigilance adds tremor and ataxia, while exact-product frequency, repeated-use and independent reproductive safety data remain limited.

One whole palatable chew with food and a 12-week interval is highly workable, with five clear weight bands. Current weighing and confirmation of ingestion are simple, but printed decimal gaps and no above-56-kg combination instruction require strict label boundaries.

Important safety and use flags

  • Use only in dogs. The exact label covers C. felis, C. canis and R. sanguineus; do not silently extend the score to cats, other tick species, mites or unrelated fluralaner claims.
  • Weigh immediately before dosing and use one complete unit from the exact printed band: 112.5 mg (>2–4.5 kg), 250 mg (4.6–10 kg), 500 mg (10.1–20 kg), 1000 mg (20.1–40 kg) or 1400 mg (40.1–56 kg). Exactly 2 kg and the printed decimal gaps have no assigned dose.
  • Do not divide a chew, interpolate the printed decimal gaps or copy Bravecto’s tablet-combination rule above 56 kg. The exact Power Gold label supplies no above-56-kg regimen.
  • Give with food or immediately after feeding, confirm the complete unit was swallowed and redose only after 12 weeks at veterinary discretion; never repeat sooner than 8 weeks.
  • Not recommended in dogs younger than 8 weeks or weighing less than 2 kg. Do not use with known hypersensitivity to fluralaner or an excipient.
  • Review epilepsy or epileptiform history. Stop and assess tremor, ataxia, seizure, marked lethargy or other neurologic change; isoxazoline neurologic reactions can occur even though most treated dogs tolerate the class.
  • Mild transient vomiting, diarrhoea, inappetence or salivation can occur. Confirm ingestion after vomiting and seek veterinary direction rather than automatically redosing.
  • The exact insert permits pregnancy/lactation and reports use in MDR1-deficient dogs, but independent Power Gold reproductive, breeding and MDR1 safety studies were not located; retain a veterinarian-led benefit–risk decision.
  • Review concurrent highly protein-bound medicines, including NSAIDs. No interaction has been reported in the exact insert, but fluralaner is highly protein-bound and exact-product interaction evidence is limited.
  • Parasites must attach and feed, so pathogen transmission cannot be completely excluded. Verify parasite identity, weight, administration and reinfestation pressure before calling failure; report suspected adverse events or resistance and do not redose early.

  • Warning (Dog)
    Adverse events have been reported following use in breeding females. Before use in breeding female dogs, refer to Post-Approval Experience and Animal Safety sections. In some cases, birth defects (including limb deformities and cleft palate), stillbirth, and abortion have been reported after treatment of breeding females. The safety of the veterinary medicinal product in breeding, pregnant and lactating dogs has been demonstrated. Can be used in breeding, pregnant and lactating dogs.

    Fluralaner is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders.   • Caution (Dog)
    The minimum age for fluralaner depends on the product label. Some labels permit use from 8 weeks, whereas the US 12-week product claim applies only from 6 months of age and 2 kg body weight; 12-week efficacy has not been demonstrated in younger puppies.
